Digital Security Training (DST) at St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology, Chennai

On 05 April 2024, Team SFLC.in conducted Digital Security Training at St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology, Chennai. The training session was designed to equip students with essential security practices for navigating the digital world safely. Most attendees were active members of the college’s GNU/Linux Users Group (GLUG), showcasing their interest in open-source technologies and digital security.

Vignesh, Technologist-SFLC.in, explained the fundamentals of data and how data profiling occurs. He demonstrated various methods for the students to check if their personal data has been compromised, and showcased a variety of tools and best practices for enhancing online security.

Vignesh introduced the students to the Online Gender Based Violence (OGBV) Guide by SFLC.in, providing them as a valuable resource for addressing digital grievances.

Kiran S. Kunjumon, Technologist-SFLC.in, explained the fundamentals of encryption and its significance in securing sensitive information. He introduced students to various encryption tools and techniques to encrypt their data in managing security threats.

The Digital Security Training (DST) session concluded with a brief discussion on filing cyber complaints and other legal measures for safeguarding online interests.
