Sflc.in sent its submission to UN OHCHR to bring forth the issue of internet shutdowns in India. Currently India is the world leader in imposing internet shutdowns. The submission presented the data on internet shutdowns imposed in India in the past 5 years. We further highlight the legal framework for imposing internet shutdowns and lack of any mechanism for accountability and transparency. We have also pointed out the impact of internet shutdowns on various human rights.
