Panel Discussion on the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019
The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 (2019 Bill) was introduced in the Lok Sabha in it’s previous session on 11.12.2019. The 2019 Bill is a reworking of the Draft Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018 published by the Justice Srikrishna Committee which was an expert committee constituted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (“Meity”) to conduct a study on the data protection framework for India.
The panel discussion intends to convene different stakeholders of the Data Protection regime under one roof to discuss, and draw clear conclusions on the key and critical issues in the 2019 Bill.
