An FIR was filed against two journalists of digital news media platform The Wire, Mohammad Anees, secretary of the mosque committee, and Mohammad Naeem, one of the local residents. It has been filed in relation to a video the wire made on demolition of Gareeb Nawaz Mosque, which according to UP administration was an illegal structure. The FIR alleges that the video was created with the intent to generate animosity between religious groups. The court did not quash the proceedings and further said that it would remain open for the petitioners to file a pre-arrest bail in the matter.
