The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology [“MeitY”] and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting [“MIB”] on 25.02.2021, notified the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. MeitY has henceforth proposed another amendment to these rules on January 2, 2023. After due consideration by the Ministry another clause was added to the proposed amendment on January 17, 2023. SFLC.in welcomes this move by MeitY to invite comments in accordance with the Pre-Legislative Consultation Policy. We also appreciate the goal of the Ministry to create an open, safe, trusted and accountable internet for all Internet users.
