SFLC.in is Launching Its Free Speech Tracker 2.0 on July 26th

In an era characterized by the proliferation of digital media and unprecedented access to information, the fundamental right to free expression is increasingly under threat. In response to these challenges, Software Freedom Law Center, India (SFLC.in), is launching Free Speech Tracker (FST) 2.0 on 26th July 2024 from 5 PM IST.

Free Speech Tracker 2.0 is an innovative platform designed to monitor and document instances of free speech violations such as censorship, bans, content blocking, and legal actions against individuals and organizations across India. This data is invaluable for identifying patterns, understanding the socio-political context of violations, and formulating evidence-based advocacy strategies. Through this, SFLC.in seeks to address the critical need for a centralized repository of information that supports the defense and promotion of free speech.

The tracker will operate on the principle of transparency and accountability which are paramount in defending free speech. This platform will not only serve as a tool for documentation but also as a catalyst for raising awareness and driving policy change. By providing reliable data and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, FST aims to create a robust framework for safeguarding free expression in India.
