SFLC.IN writes to NITI Aayog Seeking Extension For The Working Document on “Responsible AI: #AIForAll”
The NITI Aayog, on July 29th, had released a draft working document “Towards Responsible #AIForAll”. It sought comments on the document by stakeholders by August 10th.
The consultation process forms the basis of all legislation and policies in the country. The Pre-Legislative Consultative Policy stipulates a 30 day consultation period for all legislations and government policies released by ministries/department. Such important frameworks should only be finalised after detailed consultations with relevant stakeholders and the public at large. As a first step to increase the effectiveness of the consultation, it is important to extend the consultation period at least till August 29th.
We at SFLC.IN wrote to Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog requesting them to extend the consultation period of the working document, and to provide a reasonable period to all stakeholders to study and analyse the draft and make comments on it.
