The Indian government is set to release DPDP Rules by this month’s end, with full enactment expected by 2025. The rules aim to clarify data protection measures for companies of all sizes, including data transfer protocols and exemptions for startups, under the DPDP Act passed in August 2023.
Mishi Choudhary, founder of SFLC.in spoke with the Economic Times about the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules by this month’s end, with full enactment expected by 2025. She said, “Under the Act, The Government of India will issue a notification exempting certain Data Fiduciaries or class of Data Fiduciaries, including startups, from certain provisions of the DPDP Act. This notification will be based on the volume and nature of personal data processed.”
