K Chhawnthuama, a church elder of the Presbyterian Church, was arrested on 20 December, 2013 under Sections 500(defamation) and 506(criminal intimidation) of IPC and Section 66A of the IT Act.
Chhawnthuama had allegedly sent offensive SMSes to Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla after the declaration of the assembly elections results.
Thereafter, Lal Thanhawla filed an FIR against Chhawnthuama who was remanded to police custody.
