Re-enactment of Babri Masjid demolition by students at RSS leader’ school

Four individuals, including RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and school governing body members, were charged under IPC Sections 295A (deliberate intent to outrage religious feelings) and 298 (uttering words to wound religious sentiments) in December 2019. The case stemmed from a viral video showing students at Sri Rama Vidyakendra High School in Karnataka re-enacting the Babri Masjid demolition. In the video, students rushed toward a poster of the mosque while a narrator urged them to tear it down, chanting religious slogans. The students later replaced the poster with a makeshift “Ram Temple.” The event was attended by Union Minister Sadananda Gowda and Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi. Authorities alleged the re-enactment inflamed religious tensions, while critics argued it targeted minority sentiments. The charges underscored legal scrutiny of actions potentially inciting communal discord.
