Nodeep Kaur’s bail application

Ms. Kaur, a labour-rights activist, was arrested for conducting what she claimed was a peaceful protest outside factory premises. She claimed that she was falsely implicated for the amount of mileage she had gained in popularizing the Farm Laws protest. She was nevertheless arrested for including attempt to murder and extortion. The HC received private complaints via email following which it took suo-motu cognisance of the matter in early February. She had also claimed that she was forced to undergo custodial torture, and was not even taken for medical examination. Initially the HC adjourned the matter to 26 Feb 2021. Later, the HC granted bail to Ms. Kaur.
