DPIIT has recently released a White Paper on Generative AI and Copyright (Part I), with stakeholder consultations open until 7 January 2026.
SFLC.in has written to DPIIT seeking an extension of this timeline, noting that the complexity and far-reaching implications of generative AI for copyright law require deeper and broader stakeholder consultations to enable informed and meaningful feedback.
