SFLC.in is seeking a motivated and creative Communications Associate to support the development and implementation of communication strategies that amplify our work, engage diverse communities, and broaden our impact.
The Communications Associate will be responsible for managing SFLC.in’s social media presence, strengthening public relations, and executing effective communication initiatives to ensure a dynamic and consistent online presence. This role is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in digital and social media communications within the non-profit and public interest sectors.
The key responsibilities of the Communications Associate will be:
- Develop, manage, and maintain digital content across SFLC.in’s online platforms (social media, mailing lists, website)
- Enhance the organization’s visibility on key social media channels, including Twitter (X), Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Mastodon.
- Design and implement social media strategies, including a monthly content calendar and visual content (e.g., infographics).
- Support media outreach by building and maintaining relationships with relevant national and international media outlets.
- Generate media coverage across print, television, and digital platforms to amplify SFLC.in’s work and impact.
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans to support the outreach goals of the tech and legal teams.
- Plan and manage advocacy and awareness campaigns around SFLC.in’s core initiatives and broader issues of public interest.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with aligned communities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
Location:
This is a hybrid opportunity. Our office is based in New Delhi. The candidate applying must be based in New Delhi.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in communications, journalism, digital media, or related fields. Experience working in the non-profit sector is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mass communication/ journalism/ media studies, or related fields
- Strong understanding of managing mainstream social media platforms, WordPress, YouTube Studio, and Google Analytics and SEO
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English. Working proficiency in any additional regional languages is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
- Basic experience in graphic design and video editing will significantly enhance applications.
- Preferred: Knowledge or prior experience in the field of digital rights, tech policy, or human rights.
