Job Description
SFLC.in is inviting applications for the post of Junior Counsel at our office in New Delhi, India. Advocates with a keen interest in issues at the intersection of civil liberties, intellectual property rights (IPR), and technology laws, and a desire to defend the digital freedoms may apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities inter alia include:

Analyze laws and policies in the areas of technology law, human rights law, and IPR laws to develop well-informed organizational viewpoints;

Research and draft articles, opinion pieces, and other miscellaneous literature on issues such as privacy, data protection, free speech, net neutrality, and others;

Draft petitions, provide legal representation and observe litigation proceedings as required;

Work in association with other law and policymakers i.e. conduct meetings, draft expert opinions, contribute to consultation processes, provide research support and more;

Represent SFLC.IN at various national and global events such as the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF), Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APRIGF), RightsCon Summit, etc.
Job Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor of Laws with a good standing before the Bar Council of India.

At least two (2) years of litigation/ policy/transactional law experience.

Excellent legal and non-legal drafting and analytical skills, with experience in legal drafting.
Post Qualification Experience

Experience in managing day-to-day projects and deadlines;

Familiarity with issues at the intersection of law, technology, and policy, in particular, the issues involving emerging technologies;

Knowledge and understanding of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and SFLC.in’s mission to promote and preserve Digital rights.
Remuneration

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and will be at par with industry standards.
